Pinneberg / Hamburg (dpa) - While walking on the Elbe, two women were surprised by the flood and were trapped by the water.

The fire brigade had to rescue the duo, who were traveling between Wedel and Hetlingen, by boat on Tuesday afternoon.

The women were out and about in the reed belt in stormy rainy weather, the way back to the dike was cut off by the rising water.

The ambulance service welcomed the two strollers in Hetlinger Hafen.

"But they were just frozen through and, like the rescue workers, they should have been happy about a warm bathtub at home," wrote the Pinneberg fire department.

The water police were also on site with a boat.
