"In foreign policy, he has been successful for world peace and deserves the Peace Prize.

That he behaved insanely after the election should not diminish this. ", Writes Björn Söder.

It was in November that Björn Söder, together with Mattias Karlsson, the Sweden Democrats' former group leader in the Riksdag and Tobias Andersson, spokesman for the party's youth union, nominated Donald Trump for the Alfred Nobel Peace Prize.

- Donald Trump may be a controversial person with a confrontational style of debate in the domestic political arena.

But no honest assessor can deny the enormous effort he has made for a more peaceful world, Mattias Karlsson then told Expressen.

Peace on the Korean Peninsula

Eleven other European parliamentarians from the Danish People's Party, the British Conservative Party, Polish Law and Justice and Hungarian Fidesz were also behind the nomination.

- The development towards peace and peace talks that Trump has made possible on the Korean Peninsula, in the Balkans and between Israel and several of its neighboring states is historic and makes him a very worthy candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize.

I am glad that we have managed to gather such broad international support behind this nomination, said Mattias Karlsson.

"Sad legacy"

And today the nomination remains.

- It will of course be a sad legacy for Trump and his behavior after the election loss leave much to be desired.

But you have to differentiate between things.

In foreign policy, he has been successful and deserves a peace prize ", Björn Söder writes to SVT.

Tobias Andersson confirms that the nomination remains.

"The motives have not changed in substance - despite the tumult in DC," he writes to SVT.
