Berlin (dpa / bb) - According to previous reporting data, the 2020/21 flu season started extremely cautiously in Berlin.

The health authorities have only reported five confirmed cases since the beginning of October, according to an online database of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) (as of January 8).

A spokeswoman for the Berlin State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lageso) confirmed the accuracy of the information.

Around a year ago, around 300 records for the season had already been recorded - 60 times more.

Nationwide, too, the Influenza Working Group has so far seen significantly fewer cases of flu than in previous years.

The flu epidemic in Germany had ended prematurely in spring 2020.

Experts also attributed this to the corona measures.

The number of reports only ever reflects part of what actually happened.
