Deggendorf (dpa / lby) - With a view to the new 15-kilometer rule to combat the corona pandemic, the President of the Bavarian District Association, Christian Bernreiter (CSU), appealed to citizens to "grit their teeth" for another three weeks and not only to look where there is a loophole - even if the situation is exhausting and nerve-wracking.

The measure is aimed at restricting mobility and thereby reducing the number of contacts, said Bernreiter, who is the district administrator of Deggendorf, on Monday.

He urged people to accept the restriction and use it sensibly.

The police will check point by point.

The district of Deggendorf is one of 28 districts and independent cities in the Free State where, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the number of new infections with the coronavirus per 100,000 inhabitants is more than 200 within seven days.

The new, controversial 15-kilometer rule applies to these so-called hotspots.

The district of Deggendorf - like the districts of Cham, Regen, Freyung-Grafenau and Berchtesgadener Land, among others - initially blocks out day-trippers.

In view of the winter weather, many visitors came to the district, for example to the toboggan slopes or for walks on the Rusel.

Unfortunately there were always crowds of people.
