A new season of the hit series "Sex and the City" will air on HBO Max, with the same cast except actress Kim Cattrall, the channel announced Sunday night.

This season, titled "And Just Like That ..." (and just like that), will have ten episodes with actresses Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, HBO said in a statement.

Sarah Jessica Parker will continue to play the character of Carrie Bradshaw, who also narrates the story.

Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis are her two best friends, lawyer Miranda Hobbes and art dealer Charlotte York.

Kim Cattrall, who played the character of liberated female advertising worker Samantha Jones, is not mentioned in the HBO press release, which did not say why she was no longer playing.

This new version will follow the three women in their friendship and their amorous peregrinations when they are now around fifty years old.

The release date has not been specified but the first scenes should be shot in late spring in New York.

Sarah Jessica Parker, who is co-producing the series alongside Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Michael Patrick King, uploaded a trailer for the series on her Instagram account.

This short video is a montage of classic views of New York City interspersed with images from the computer screen belonging to Carrie Bradshaw's character with the words "And just like that ..." as well as "The story continues ..." (the story continues).

The voice of the actress accompanies these images.

The original series "Sex and the City", created by Darren Star, is based on the eponymous book by Candace Bushnell published in 1997. The first episode was released in 1998 and six seasons followed.

The series also resulted in two films released in 2008 and 2010 and a prequel (series recounting events prior to the original series), which aired in 2013 over two seasons.
