Berlin (dpa / bb) - Numerous people want to remember the murder of Communist leaders Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht in 1919 at a left-wing to radical left-wing demonstration in Berlin today.

Registered from 10 a.m. are 3000 participants who want to move from the Frankfurter Tor in Friedrichshain to the memorial at the Friedrichsfelde cemetery in Lichtenberg.

The motto is "Fight and Remember: Crisis and Oppression - the answer is revolution".

The traditional annual silent commemoration of the party Die Linke will be postponed to March 14 this year due to the corona pandemic.

For decades, thousands of people and the leading representatives of the party laid wreaths and red carnations at the grave of the two labor leaders on the second Sunday in January.

In the GDR, the annual memorial march was a ritual led by the entire state and SED leadership.

Luxemburg and Liebknecht were shot dead by Freikorps soldiers in Berlin on January 15, 1919.
