Neighbors discovered how smoke billowed out from under the door of the apartment, and alerted SOS.
- When we got to the place, we saw how flames erupted from the apartment.
It was an extensive effort, says internal commander Göran Sundqvist, at Medelpad's rescue service.
Söråkersstationen managed most of the rescue effort, but also received help from forces from Timrå and Sundsvall.
The person who was in the apartment survived without injuries.
- He went out for his own machine, says Göran Sundqvist.
He describes the effort as "smooth and good", and is particularly pleased that they managed to calm the neighbors in the stairwell, and get them to stay in their apartments with closed doors. This meant that the smoke damage could be limited.
