Greding (dpa / lby) - In a carriage accident in the Middle Franconian town of Greding (Roth district), a man was seriously injured and two horses drowned.

The operator of the stud tried on Sunday to harness the horses in front of the carriage when they broke loose, as the police announced.

The man was either run over by the carriage or overrun by the horses.

He was seriously injured and taken to a hospital.

The police initially gave no information about the age of the man.

The horses had meanwhile run towards a nearby river and fell into it. Both horses drowned. Fire department divers tried to locate the carriage and the horses, but initially could only find one horse. The horse was rescued from the water with a crane.
