The support committees for the organizers of the illegal rave party which brought together 2,400 New Year's party participants in Brittany, announced on Friday the cancellation of their gathering scheduled for this Saturday in Rennes in the face of "threats of criminal sanctions".

In support of a 22-year-old young man presented as one of the organizers of the evening in Lieuron (Ille-et-Vilaine), indicted and imprisoned since Monday, the rally was scheduled for this Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Breton capital.

It had been banned by the prefect of Ille-et-Vilaine Emmanuel Berthier.

Prefecture and police indicated the deployment of an "adapted device" without further details.

Reinforcements of mobile gendarmes were notably planned.

"Faced with threats of penal and financial sanctions from the Prefecture (...) We are forced to postpone our rally of support", wrote Friday in a press release the "committees of support for the accused of Maskarade, Rennes, Nantes, Toulouse, Paris and IDF, Auvergne and Rhône-Alpes ”, and the National Coordination of Sounds.

Other mobilizations to come

"Too many of our comrades or children are behind bars or are drowning in fines for having danced or demonstrated", underline the committees and the coordination which call for "to create support committees and plan many actions in the weeks to come".

The committees make an appointment on January 16 in Paris, for a demonstration for the right to culture, "Culture 4 Liberty" which "will be dedicated to the accused of Maskarade", also calling to join all the demonstrations of January 16 against the comprehensive security bill.

"Finally, on January 23, if people arrested this week as part of the Maskarade are still locked up or threatened with disproportionate sentences, we will call again for a large unitary demonstration in the streets of Rennes to support them", they underline .
