Schwerin (dpa / mv) - Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Health Minister Harry Glawe (CDU) has confirmed his plan that all those willing to vaccinate in the country will receive a corona vaccination by the end of summer in September at the latest.

The vaccinations had got off to a good start, and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania had hit the highest pace nationwide.

"We don't talk so much, we work," said Glawe on Friday in Schwerin.

Vaccination of the population with the effect of so-called herd protection is "affordable" until summer.

It is crucial that the vaccine supplies gain momentum.

“The other thing we get logistically regulated in the country.

We have highly professional people, ”said Glawe.

There is a high willingness of former doctors to support the vaccination campaign.

So far, 500 have reported.

In addition, 1000 general practitioners should also be involved in the expected provision of vaccines, which no longer require extreme cooling.

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), around 24,000 people in the northeast have been vaccinated against the coronavirus since the end of December.

With 15 vaccinations per 1000 inhabitants, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is at the top in Germany according to the RKI.

The national average was therefore 5.7 vaccinations per 1000 inhabitants.
