The government wants to speed up the vaccination campaign thanks in particular to vaccination centers installed in town, such as the one created in a gymnasium in Montbéliard, in the Doubs.

The town hall expects 300 to 350 daily injections within a few days.

Until now, vaccinations had mainly taken place in nursing homes and hospitals.

But the first municipal vaccination centers are starting to open, to reach a wider audience.

This is particularly the case in Montbéliard, in the Doubs, where a vaccination center has been installed in a gymnasium in the city.

Phone calls all day

To be vaccinated, you must first make an appointment by phone.

After a quick medical visit with a doctor, the patients take their places in one of the seven boxes installed in the gymnasium.

On Friday, only caregivers over 50 or those with comorbid factors were eligible to be vaccinated.

"We are inundated with phone calls", testifies Marie-Noëlle Biguinet, the mayor of the city.

"Every night we call the hospital telling them 'tomorrow we have x vaccinations' and they will give us the exact number of vaccines," she explains.

"Preserve myself and preserve my patients"

"It is the only solution to get out of the crisis. I came to protect myself, to protect my patients and to give them the example to follow", confides Frédéric, general practitioner, at the microphone of Europe 1. He explains not to have hesitated for a second to be vaccinated.

"I'm just afraid of being in pain," says Nathalie, a nursing assistant.

“I didn't feel anything, not even the bite,” she then reassures.

“Every day, there must be two doctors present and we can accommodate up to seven nurses. This means that we can really vaccinate a lot of people,” says Marie-Noëlle Biguinet.

On Friday, for the first day of this municipal center, around thirty people were vaccinated.

The town hall expects 300 to 350 daily injections within a few days.
