Neu-Ulm (dpa) - Champions League winner Borussia Düsseldorf has won the German table tennis cup for the 27th time.

Timo Boll's team defeated the four-time German champions TTF Ochsenhausen 3-1 in the final of the Final Four tournament in Neu-Ulm.

Record European champion Boll was the decisive man in this final with two individual victories.

First, the 39-year-old beat the American Kanak Jha in 3-0 sets.

With a score of 2: 1, he also won the duel between the two top players against Ochsenhausen's sixth-placed Hugo Calderano from Brazil (3: 1).

Previously, the Frenchman Simon Gauzy had scored the only point against Anton Källberg for the Swabians, who in 2019 still managed the double of the championship and the cup.

«What a month that has been.

We haven't won a title for three years - and now two in a month, "said Boll at Sport1.

"Now we are of course super relieved."
