Schwerin (dpa / mv) - For the social fund set up during the Corona crisis, applications totaling around seven million euros have been approved.

This corresponds to around 1200 applications, announced the Ministry of Social Affairs in Schwerin on request.

The approximately 1000 open applications would have a volume of almost four million euros.

"We continue to help the social institutions in the country in these difficult months and have extended the application period for the social fund either indefinitely or initially to June 30, 2021," said Social Minister Stefanie Drese (SPD).

The state government decided on the 20 million euro social fund in April of the previous year.

The State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lagus), the Volunteer Foundation, the State Promotion Institute and the State Sports Association are responsible for the applications, depending on the focus of the institution.

According to the ministry, almost 2.3 million euros have so far been approved for family leisure facilities such as zoos and animal parks.

Almost 1.7 million euros have so far been made available for the field of school camps, forest school homes, youth hostels and family vacation homes.

For sports clubs and sports infrastructure, it was almost a million euros, and around 700,000 euros for supporting voluntary work.

The ministry also referred to 12 million euros, which will be added as a corona bonus for employees in care facilities.

However, the money does not come from the social fund.
