Großschwabhausen (dpa / th) - Because of a fire in a car workshop in Großschwabhausen, several surrounding residential buildings had to be evacuated on Friday night.

A total of 41 people had to leave their homes temporarily due to the risk of explosion, according to the police in the morning.

The emergency services had previously been called to the burning hall in which gas bottles and a gas tank were stored.

The hall burned down completely.

Nobody got hurt.

Because of the cold temperatures, the residents were initially housed in the parish hall at night.

When the fire was extinguished in the early hours of the morning, all but one of them were able to return home.

The adjoining apartment of the workshop was uninhabitable.

A high level of property damage had occurred, but the exact amount of damage was not yet known, according to the police. The cause of the fire was also initially unclear.
