At 10.07 on Friday, the police received a call about a robbery at Vasavägen in central Eskilstuna.

A person must have been threatened with a burglary and forced to give up the car keys.

- We were quickly on the scene and were able to arrest the suspect.

When we worked with the robbery, we were told that there was a fire in the house next door.

It was at 10.14 that the police received an alarm about a fire in an apartment building on Vasavägen, right next to where the robbery had taken place.

- When we started working with the fire, we received witness information that the person we had arrested for the robbery must have been seen near the fire.

He is now suspected of armed robbery and arson, says Thomas Agnevik, the police's spokesperson.

No one injured

According to the police, there was a fire in an apartment and the rescue service was able to quickly put out the fire.

They will now check the attic in the home to ensure that the fire has not spread.

No one should have been in the apartment and the house did not need to be evacuated.

According to the police, the suspect is an Eskilstuna resident in his 40s.

The man has previously been convicted of a variety of crimes, including robbery.
