Piraeus (AP) - The basketball players of FC Bayern Munich started with a defeat in the second half of the Euroleague.

At the top Greek team Olympiacos Piraeus, coach Andrea Trinchieri's team lost 82:84 (46:44) on Friday and after 18 games they have 11 wins and seven defeats to their credit.

The Bundesliga team is still on course for knockout round.

Bayern had a hard time in the game and were quickly behind with 9:16.

With the help of an interim 9-0 run, the guests ended the first quarter with a 22:19 lead.

In the second round, too, Munich usually had the right answer to a good phase at Olympiakos and went into the break with a 46:44.

The Greeks were the better team after the break, mainly thanks to Kostas Sloukas.

The 31-year-old always caused problems for the Bayern defense and ended up being the hosts' top scorer with a total of 24 points.

The Trinchieri team went into the final round 61:64 behind and could not turn the match around in an exciting fourth quarter.

With an attempted three-point throw, national player Paul Zipser missed the chance to win three seconds before the end.

Dennis Seeley convinced the South Germans with 26 points.

The Munich team will continue on Sunday (3 p.m.) in the Bundesliga with the game against newly promoted Niners Chemnitz.

In the Euroleague, Bayern will receive Zenit St. Petersburg on January 13th.
