The department indicated that the Abu Dhabi Scholarships for Research Excellence Program targets faculty members working full-time in higher education institutions, in the emirate.

The program is based on funding distinguished research proposals in areas of strategic priority in a competitive manner, to bring about tangible development in scientific and technological fields, and to establish local and international partnerships that link researchers in Abu Dhabi with their counterparts in industrial sectors and leading academic institutions.

The program also supports distinguished research proposals from researchers who have not obtained a higher education degree (doctorate or equivalent) more than six years ago, and who work full-time in a higher education institution in Abu Dhabi.

The period of the Young Researcher Scholarship is for a maximum of two years, with a maximum budget of 200,000 dirhams, in research areas that are not related to education or social sciences, as the budget allocated to these fields does not exceed 100,000 dirhams.
