In Bonn, cars went off the road in two cases, a police spokesman said on Friday morning.

In Detmold, too, a car slipped due to the weather on the B1 and crashed into a guardrail.

But nobody was injured, it was said.

In the Sauerland, for example in Brilon or Meschede, the emergency services had to deal with several trucks that had got stuck on the road on inclines.

In many cities and regions in North Rhine-Westphalia it had snowed on Friday night, for example in the Bergisches Land.

According to the German Weather Service (DWD), the winter continues on Friday.

Above 200 meters, the DWD expects more snowfall by morning, in the lowlands more sleet or rain.

In the mountains, the weather service warned of permafrost.

The maximum values ​​are between one and four degrees on the Lower Rhine.

According to the DWD, thick clouds and overcast skies are possible on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday it could snow again at temperatures as low as minus three degrees in the higher mountains, otherwise it should remain mostly dry.

According to the weather service, it will be between zero and three degrees on Sunday.

Permafrost is still possible in the mountains.
