Bad weather, the Municipality of Naples closes city parks and cemeteries

08 January 2021A large chasm has opened in the parking lot of the Ospedale del Mare, on the eastern outskirts of Naples.
The fact happened at dawn today.
There are no people involved even if some cars ended up in the chasm.

"Between 06.30 and 6.45 this morning there was a loud roar inside the visitor parking area of the Ponticelli Hospital. In fact, the roar was caused by an implosion that generated a chasm of about 2000 square meters for a depth of about 20 meters ".
Asl Napoli 1 writes it in a note, to which the hospital in the eastern district of Ponticelli belongs.
"The firefighters are on site and although the chasm has engulfed some cars, at the moment it seems that no people have been involved - reads the note - in the entire Hospital of the Sea at the moment the power supply from the cabin is cut off main, but the garrison is powered by generators that guarantee the full operation of the structure and the full efficiency of the assistance activity. ASL Napoli 1 Centro will temporarily close the Covid Residence as soon as possible due to the impossibility of guaranteeing hot water and electricity ".
The part where the collapse occurred is adjacent to the modular hospital created as a Covid center last spring to meet the need for new intensive and sub-intensive care places, along via Paciolla, towards the state road.
A chasm therefore distant from Covid hospital and the actual hospital structure.
"At the moment there is no element that leads to think of a malicious act", underlines the health company.
