Kiel (dpa / lno) - The districts in Schleswig-Holstein have agreed to facilitate the switch to emergency care during the corona pandemic in child day care.

This announced the district day on Friday.

When paying the nursing staff concerned, they will proceed in an accommodating manner.

Background: Child day care is not affected by the closure of daycare and schools in lockdown.

In day care, the staff are free to offer their services in full, to provide emergency care or to discontinue the offer.

"The deviating regulation from the day-care center is due to the fact that the day care workers are self-employed," explained district council manager Sönke E. Schulz.

Therefore, they have to finance their downtime themselves from the funding granted by the districts.

According to the legal situation, payments are generally only made for children for whom care is actually offered.

"In order to contribute to the containment of the infection occurrence also in the day care centers, the districts decided to handle this regulation generously during the lockdown in January 2021," explained Schulz.

The districts therefore usually continued to pay for all "occupied" places even if children were temporarily cared for at home by agreement between parents and caregivers.

"The prerequisite is that the day care worker offers at least one emergency care in the scope provided for day-care centers," said Schulz.

Only in the event that a nurse temporarily stops care during the lockdown will not be paid for this period.
