Kiel (dpa / lno) - The GEW has accused Schleswig-Holstein's Minister of Education, Karin Prien (CDU), of setting the schools "once again in an uproar".

On Monday, despite the tightened lockdown to combat corona that will come into force, there should be “lessons according to the timetable” for the final classes, criticized the GEW state chairwoman Astrid Henke on Friday.

"In concrete terms, this means that several hundred pupils will flock to schools in many schools on Monday morning."

The GEW asked the Ministry of Education to stop the plans and only provide classes in small groups.

From Monday, face-to-face classes in Schleswig-Holstein's schools are suspended until the end of January.

The requirements for the final classes do not correspond in any way to the announcements of Prien.

According to Prien, the final classes should receive learning and preparation offers in the schools from Monday: "The offers take place in small groups with a distance and a hygiene concept and of course the mask requirement continues to apply."

"Now it is called face-to-face lessons according to the timetable," criticized Henke.

The requirements cannot be implemented in schools and they do not do justice to infection protection.

Lessons according to the timetable for the final classes do not mean lockdown for community schools and high schools, but a meeting of 150 to 400 students in a confined space.

In addition, there would be between 30 and 100 teachers.

"Protection against infection looks different," said Henke.

The GEW state chairwoman believes it is right to give the final classes face-to-face lessons in the examination subjects.

But this should not happen for everyone at the same time.

Reductions in scope are also possible.

In the non-examination subjects, the school should go to distance learning.

"Alternating and distance lessons can and must also be carried out in the final classes."
