In addition to the two-week trip to Gran Canaria over the Christmas and New Year weekend, Dan Eliasson made another holiday trip to the Canary Islands during the pandemic.

The previously unknown trip is confirmed by the authority.

- We have no information about how long Dan was in the Canary Islands last autumn, but we can confirm that he was there privately, says Josefin Morge at MSB's press service to DN.

Resigned last Monday

Dan Eliasson left the post of CEO on Monday after receiving extensive criticism for a holiday trip to Las Palmas over the Christmas and New Year weekend.

- We had a conversation earlier today.

He chooses to resign.

I listened to him and share his assessment.

The MSB as an authority must function during the pandemic.

Dan Eliasson misjudged this and it has had major consequences, said Interior Minister Mikael Damberg (S) to SVT in connection with the departure.

Did not inform the Minister

It has previously emerged that Dan Eliasson did not inform the Minister of the Interior or the Government's crisis coordinator about his trip to the Canary Islands over Christmas.

Mikael Damberg's press secretary tells DN that he did not know about this trip either and has asked to return to the newspaper.

- I think he (Dan Eliasson) has drawn the right conclusion that he can not stay, says Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (S).
