Berlin (dpa / bb) - In Berlin, the number of new infections with the corona virus is increasing again.

The so-called seven-day incidence rose to around 171 on Friday. The value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants were infected in the past seven days.

Before Christmas, the value in Berlin was well over 200 and then initially fell significantly.

The Senate Health Administration registered 1,479 new corona cases on Friday.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the number of people infected has risen to 105,125. Around 85,000 people are considered recovered and around 20,000 are currently infected.

60 new deaths were reported.

This means that 1,547 people have died in the capital since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The situation remains tense when the intensive care beds are occupied by Covid patients.

The occupancy rate was 34.7 percent.

The Senate's Corona traffic light continues to show red twice.
