2020 - In the central Chinese city of Wuhan (Hubei Province), a person dies for the first time from the novel coronavirus Sars-CoV-2, or Covid-19 for short.

China had already reported cases of illness to the World Health Organization (WHO) at the end of 2019.

2011 - The referendum on an independent state begins in South Sudan.

The referendum is part of the peace agreement that ended the long civil war between North and South in 2005 after 21 years.

According to the official final result of February 7th, almost 98.83 percent of voters will vote for independence.

2006 - In the Schiller town of Marbach am Neckar, the Museum of Modern Literature (LiMo), which cost around twelve million euros, is opened.
