Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta confirmed that Mesut Ozil's future could be decided with the English football club during the January transfer period, and that the German player would be allowed to leave if he received a suitable offer.

Ozil, who has a contract with Arsenal until the end of this season, has not played with the London club since March of last year, and Arteta excluded him from the Premier League and European League squad in the first half of this season.

Ozil, 32, has the right to negotiate with any other team this month, and British reports said that he is already in negotiations with Turkey's Fenerbahce and US DC United.

"We will determine what will happen in the next few days, and I don't know what will happen," Arteta told reporters ahead of Saturday's FA Cup match against Newcastle United.

"We will discuss internally the best solution for him in the near future, and that will be with the player and his agent as well, and we will try to reach the best solution for all parties," he added.

"If an agreement is reached this month, it will be because this is in the interest of all parties, so that the matter is good for Masoud and his future and is appropriate for the club. If this is the situation then he will move, and if not so then he will remain here."

Arsenal can restrict Ozil to continue the current season, but Arteta has not yet indicated if he is considering this.

Arteta said midfielder Thomas Partey will undergo a pre-match test to determine whether he can participate after recovering from injury, or not to pay and save his effort for the Crystal Palace match in the league next week.

Defender Gabriel, who was infected with the Coronavirus last month, has no longer had any symptoms, but he will return to training after undergoing a medical examination.
