A few minutes after the validation by the American Congress of the victory of Democrat Joe Biden in the presidential election, Donald Trump admitted that his mandate was over.

The outgoing president also promised an "orderly transition".

Donald Trump admitted early Thursday, after Congressional certification of Joe Biden's election to the White House, that his presidency was coming to an end and promised an "orderly transition."

"Even though I completely disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts support me, there will be an orderly transition on January 20," he wrote in a statement.

"This represents the end of one of the best first presidential terms and it is only the beginning of our fight to make America great again," added the Republican.
