Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Hamburg is still in the bottom third of the corona vaccination rate compared to other countries.

This emerges from figures published by the Robert Koch Institute on Thursday.

The number of corona vaccinations in the Hanseatic city has recently increased by almost 17 percent in one day alone.

So far, a total of 7079 vaccinations have been given, 1178 of them on Wednesday.

But that's only 3.8 vaccinations per 100,000 inhabitants - the fifth worst result nationwide.

For comparison: The two other city-states Berlin and Bremen have 6.6 and 5.6 vaccinations per 100,000 inhabitants, respectively.

The front runner is Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with 13.5, Thuringia bottom with 2.5, followed by Lower Saxony with 2.8.

The national average is 5.0.

The most vaccinations (3561) were given in Hamburg for professional reasons, for example with doctors, medical and nursing staff.

2415 people were vaccinated because of their old age.

All Hamburgers over 80 are currently called upon to get vaccinated.
