Good news for Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis).

The Heritage Foundation and Stéphane Bern have granted Murs-à-Pêches financial assistance of 300,000 euros for its restoration.

The largest allocation awarded to one of the eight sites in Ile-de-France selected.

Identifying heritage of the city of Montreuil and an exceptional territory on a metropolitan scale, the 34 hectares of fishing walls also represent a natural area of ​​biodiversity and a center of Montreuilloise culture.

For Patrice Bessac, mayor of Montreuil, “this support is the recognition of the will of the municipality to leave the status quo to stop the continuous degradation of the site and its walls and to stimulate a coherent vision imagined collectively in respect of the natural vocation places ".

Another check for 50,000 euros and a "popular" subscription

To these 300,000 euros, are added 50,000 euros of cultural sponsorship given by La Française des Jeux for the year 2021. A “popular” subscription must be launched by the city of Montreuil to recover an additional 70,000 euros for the restoration of the Murs-à -Peaches.

In 2020, the Murs-à-Pêches had already obtained the labeling by the regional council of Ile-de-France in Heritage of regional interest which ensures these walls mounted in flint stone, earth and plaster, of acquire the status of emblematic and irreplaceable witness of regional history.
