Meißen (dpa / sn) - The CDU district association Meißen has now canceled the party conference planned for Friday in Großenhain.
After “long and intensive discussions” in the board and with the grassroots, the decision was made to move the general meeting to March 11, explained the deputy district chairman Daniela Kuge on Thursday.

We cannot hold an event as long as our citizens are still restricted in their environment. "
On the Facebook page of the district association it was also said that the police had advised to cancel the conference due to possible disruptions.
The Dresden Police Department, on the other hand, stated that on Thursday they had only discussed a necessary security concept with the CDU district association, and that the organizers were not advised "at any time" to cancel.
In the afternoon, district leader Sebastian Fischer had emphasized that the district association wanted to hold on to the nomination party conference and referred to the hygiene concept.
According to the Ministry of Health, the district of Meißen has by far the highest incidence in Saxony with 483 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days (as of Thursday).
