Dortmund (dpa) - After a snake skin was found in the basement of an apartment building in Dortmund, the landlord had the basement cleared out as a precaution.

The previous search and daily control of trap traps had not found any traces, said a spokeswoman for the Dogewo housing association on Thursday.

However, they want to remove the remaining risk.

Reptile experts are therefore busy over the next few days clearing the tenants' basement rooms in order to be able to rule out that the animal has hidden somewhere between the things.

Until then, the cellar will remain closed to the residents.

The discovery of the stripped skin had raised concerns that a possibly poisonous snake, probably an adder, might be in the basement. The residents had to leave the building at the turn of the year, but were able to return to their apartments on New Year's Eve after the basement was sealed by the fire brigade. Two snake experts took over the search and daily checks.
