The United States welcomed the final statement of the Gulf Cooperation Council summit hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and considered the "Al-Ula" declaration issued by the summit as a positive step towards restoring Gulf and Arab unity.

A statement by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the unity of the Gulf will bring additional prosperity through the free flow of goods and services and more security for the people of the GCC countries.

The statement also welcomed the pledge to restore military, economic and health cooperation, combating corruption and cultural initiatives, expressing his country's hope that the Gulf states will continue to settle their differences.

He pointed out that the resumption of full diplomatic relations is essential for all parties in the region to face common threats, thanking the State of Kuwait for its mediation efforts and its support to resolve the Gulf conflict.

For its part, the US National Security Council announced that the United States will stand alongside its Gulf Cooperation Council partners in a new phase of cooperation.

The council affirmed in a statement that Gulf unity is crucial to achieving prosperity and security in the region, and praised the leaders of Saudi Arabia and Qatar for "bold steps" to resolve the Gulf dispute.

In a related context, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham congratulated US President Donald Trump and his team led by Jared Kushner and Avi Berkowitz for the successful mediation between Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

The Republican senator considered that the biggest loser is Iran, because it will not benefit anymore from the dispute between the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and said that the biggest winner is the United States and the peoples of the region.

End the Gulf crisis

On Tuesday, the Saudi city of Al-Ula hosted the 41st Gulf Summit chaired by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The leaders and heads of the delegations of the Gulf Cooperation Council states signed the final statement of the summit and the "Al-Ula Declaration."

The outcomes of the summit affirmed an end to the Gulf crisis, stressing that no state’s sovereignty be violated or its security targeted, and the development of solid relations, and respect for the principles of good neighborliness.

The declaration praised the efforts and good endeavors made by the late Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to heal the rift between member states. The statement also expressed its thanks and appreciation for the efforts of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and the efforts of the United States of America as well.

The statement welcomed the return of the joint Gulf action to its normal course, the strengthening of ranks and cohesion among the member states, and the preservation of security and stability in the region, stressing that the security of any state would not be compromised, or targeting its security and prejudice to its national cohesion.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah said that what happened at the summit was a complete folding of the dispute with Qatar and a complete return to diplomatic relations.

The summit came after the State of Kuwait announced that Saudi Arabia had opened the airspace and the land and sea borders with Qatar on Monday evening.
