Volodin appreciated the statement of the British ambassador on Russia's fight against the pandemic

Volodin called Pierce's position "misanthropic."

“The representative of Great Britain publicly wished the citizens of Russia and China to die from the pandemic.

If in the near future this statement is not disavowed by the UK, then it can be considered as an official position in relation to the citizens of our country and China, ”he said.

The Speaker of the State Duma expressed the hope that the statements of the British diplomat will open the eyes of many "to the policy of Great Britain and its allies."

“We remember that Great Britain was one of the initiators of the accusations and sanctions against Russia.

Now they are afraid of the superiority of our countries over the so-called "open markets", they wish our citizens to die from a pandemic, "he added.

Volodin noted that Pierce's statements demonstrate that if Russia did not have its own vaccine against COVID-19, then "we could hardly count on their help." 

He also stressed that not a single representative of the US government condemned the statement of the British ambassador.

Earlier, Pierce said that Russia and China should not emerge victorious from the coronavirus pandemic.

She also called the strategic competition from Moscow and Beijing a big challenge.
