From the end of the month, all French people over the age of 75 will be able to be vaccinated, and not just those who live in nursing homes.

A hope for some to finally be able to see their loved ones again and resume an almost normal life.

But a fear for others, not yet quite ready to take the leap.

REPORTAGE

To speed up the vaccine campaign against Covid-19 in France, the government has announced the opening of treatment to firefighters as well as to home helpers over 50 years old.

From the end of the month, all French people over the age of 75 will also be able to be vaccinated, and not just those living in nursing homes.

A moment that some look forward to, when others do not hide their fears.

"A hope of being able to break the isolation"

Will these 5 million citizens over 75 get vaccinated?

In any case, this is what Michel intends to do, who is turning 84 and who will make an appointment as soon as possible.

With his wife Maryvonne, 76 years old, he has not seen their grandchildren for a long time, as a precaution.

"We have been deprived of them for almost six months and it is very hard, so we are impatiently awaiting the vaccine. It is a hope of being able to break this isolation and be able to take advantage of the family", assures the sixty-year-old.

A hope shared by Nicole, 86, who still asks herself a question: "I am almost ready to be vaccinated, but what I would like to know is if with this vaccine we are still contagious?" she asks herself.

And on this, data is still lacking, even if figures from the US Medicines Agency seem to show that the Moderna vaccine would prevent this contagion.

"Not enough hindsight"

Still, all the septuagenarians concerned are not ready to take the plunge, like Marianne: "There is no hindsight, it's too fast. We don't know if it's dangerous. , we do not know if there will be side effects, we do not know anything ... A vaccine is done in ten years. I know there will be others, so I am waiting ".

The government has promised for its part to open the file to register online or by phone in the coming days.
