She also noted that US President Donald Trump reiterates his call on protesters to renounce violence and maintain a peaceful demonstration attitude.

Earlier in Washington, clashes broke out between Trump supporters and the police.

The clashes led to the use of tear gas by law enforcement agencies.

Later it was reported that protesters broke into the Capitol and surrounded the Senate Hall.

According to media reports, one person was injured during the protests.
