Munich (dpa) - Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) has again called for more planning security from the federal government for the delivery of vaccines against the corona virus.

It is now important that every vaccine that is possible can be procured and produced, said Söder on Wednesday after a meeting of the Bavarian cabinet in Munich.

It is not a problem of the quantities ordered, but the question of when the vaccination doses will arrive.

"What was a positive signal yesterday that the Chancellor has made this a top priority," said Söder.

Meanwhile, the EU health authority has given the green light for the vaccine from manufacturer Moderna.

This gives hope that the product will be delivered soon.

Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) had declared that every German who would like to do so should be able to be offered a vaccination by the summer.

"Vaccination is the only real long-term strategy that exists," emphasized the Bavarian Prime Minister and warned against exaggerated hopes for rapid relief from the pandemic.

99 vaccination centers are at the start in Bavaria.

"There is vaccination, whatever works," explained Söder.

So far, around 90,000 people in Bavaria have received the first of two necessary vaccine doses.

It is also true that the willingness to vaccinate must be increased.

First experiences from the old people's and nursing homes showed a high willingness to vaccinate the home residents, but reluctance among the nursing staff.

A vaccination campaign must be considered that also includes role models from public life.

"We are entering a crucial phase," said Söder.

The second wave of the pandemic is much more difficult than the first wave in spring and many are already talking about a third wave.
