Hamburg (dpa / lno) - In view of the continued high number of infections, the Hamburg Senate today wants to tighten its ordinance to contain the corona pandemic.

As agreed by the federal and state governments on Tuesday, the lockdown is to be extended by three weeks to January 31.

The contact options are to be further restricted: Instead of five people from two households, members of one household should only be allowed to meet one person from another household.

«There is no basis for relaxation.

On the contrary, we have to take some additional measures, ”said Mayor Peter Tschentscher (SPD) after the Prime Minister's consultations with the Chancellor.

The heads of government also agreed that in a corona hotspot with a seven-day incidence of over 200 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants, the range of motion should be restricted to 15 kilometers around the place of residence.

Tschentscher emphasized that he hoped that this value would not be achieved in Hamburg.

On Tuesday, the seven-day incidence was 138.4, according to health agency calculations.

On Christmas Eve, the authority had given the value as 179.6.

In order to create a nationwide uniform regulation, however, the information from the Robert Koch Institute will be binding, said the mayor.

Accordingly, the value on Tuesday was 101.9.

"We have to be particularly careful now," said Tschentscher, but also pointed out that the numbers after the holidays are not really meaningful.

"The situation is unclear," he said.

With 697 new infections, Hamburg reached the highest daily value since the beginning of the pandemic on Tuesday.

Only 132 new infections were reported on Monday.

Strong fluctuations can also be expected in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the central vaccination center in the Hamburg exhibition halls started operations on Tuesday.

The rush was still very limited.

Employees of the outpatient care services and people over 80 who live at home are currently called upon to get vaccinated against corona there.

Due to the still scarce vaccine, only 500 appointments per day can initially be given.

«More is possible.

Up to 7000 vaccinations can be given here every day, ”said Tschentscher.

The federal government has now promised to provide reliable delivery times for vaccines so that the states can plan.

According to the authorities, more than 4,700 people in Hamburg have been vaccinated so far.

The corona-related lifting of compulsory attendance in Hamburg schools is to be extended until the end of the month.

On Tuesday, the first day of school after the holidays, every fifth school child came to elementary school.

"Currently 19.98 percent of pupils take part in face-to-face classes in elementary schools, 6.43 percent in district schools, 14.37 percent in special schools and 3.02 percent in high schools," said the spokesman for the school authority, Peter Albrecht.

The daycare centers were also comparatively well attended at the start of the new year.

As Social Senator Melanie Leonhard (SPD) told the dpa, around a third of the children are currently being cared for there.
