Management wants to reduce administrative jobs at the Clermont-Ferrand headquarters and reduce the workforce in 14 of its historic factories in the region.

Michelin is giving itself three years to make these changes and affirms that it will be done without a forced departure.

If no plant closures are planned in this plan, President Florent Menegaux specifies that it would be irresponsible on his part to make a long-term commitment on this point.

For Michelin, it is above all a question of securing its future.

Currently tire manufacturing represents 90% of its turnover, but in 10 years it should drop to 75%.

In recent months, the manufacturer, which has more than 130,000 employees worldwide, has already downsized in Germany.

It closed its Bamberg site, which employed 858 people and manufactured premium tires for passenger cars, a sector facing strong competition from Asian manufacturers.
