Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - The Hessian Corona Cabinet wants to define the new and significantly tightened measures for the population to protect against infection with the virus on Wednesday.

The aim of the meeting in Wiesbaden is to fix the measures decided in the federal-state switchboard on Tuesday with an ordinance for Hesse.

Prime Minister Volker Bouffier (CDU) will then present and explain the planned health protection restrictions for the Hessian population in detail.

The measures should apply until the end of January.

The federal and state governments agreed on Tuesday, among other things, on even stricter contact rules due to the persistently high number of corona infections.

In future, for example, only members of a household will be allowed to meet in public spaces with a maximum of one other person who does not live in the household.

The Corona cabinet must also decide how school lessons in Hesse will continue after the end of the Christmas holidays.

Compulsory attendance at schools was lifted two days before the start of the Christmas holidays in December.

The holidays end this week.

The individual federal states regulate the concrete procedure at schools and daycare centers themselves, because it is their own responsibility.
