Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Former football professional David Jarolim continues to dream of returning to his ex-club Hamburger SV.

That would be his “dream goal”, he spent the best time of his career in Hamburg, ”said the former Czech national player and today's soccer coach in the podcast“ HSV - we have to talk ”to the“ Hamburger Abendblatt ”(Wednesday).

“Many would certainly say that Barcelona or Bayern would be a dream.

But I've been in Hamburg for so long, I'll never forget the time there.

If something like that happened, it would be great, ”added the 41-year-old.

From 2003 to 2012 he scored 257 Bundesliga games (14 goals) for the Hanseatic League and thus experienced successful times before things went downhill for Hamburg.

He made it into the semi-finals of the Europa League twice with HSV, and once the North Germans qualified for the Champions League.

When he left HSV, he already had the hope of returning to the Volkspark at some point.

He had even negotiated a follow-up contract as a youth coach, but it was probably "in some drawer" with him.

And after the many changes in personnel at HSV, none of those responsible at the time were there.

That's why it "somehow unfortunately didn't work out".

He follows the games of HSV, who is in their third year in the 2nd Bundesliga, on television as often as possible, reported the former midfielder who is currently without a club.

After the most recent home game against Jahn Regensburg (3-1), he also wants to watch the Hamburg game on Saturday at 1. FC Nürnberg, for which he played in the three years before his time at HSV.

"Of course I'll keep my fingers crossed for HSV", emphasized Jarolim: "My tip: 2: 1 for HSV."
