THE ESSENTIAL
It's a busy political day in the United States: the recount is underway in Georgia, where two Democratic senators are in a good position to win in a by-election that could allow Joe Biden's party to control the Senate American.
At the same time, Congress meets to formally record the vote of the voters in favor of Joe Biden in the November 3 ballot.
The outcome of this constitutional obligation is beyond doubt: Joe Biden will indeed become the 46th President of the United States on January 20.
Donald Trump called on his supporters to demonstrate this Wednesday in Washington: the outgoing president confirmed that he would speak to them on Wednesday.

"Georgia, thank you for the trust you have placed in me," he announced in a brief statement, as his opponent, outgoing David Perdue, did not concede defeat.
The mainstream American media have not yet announced the winner of this tight ballot.
But if this result is confirmed, the Democrats will take control of the US Senate, giving Joe Biden all the levers of power when he arrives at the White House on January 20.
