She announced this on her Twitter page.
“Today I am declaring a citywide curfew in the District of Columbia from 6:00 pm on January 6th to 6:00 am on January 7th," the mayor said.

Earlier in Washington, clashes broke out between supporters of US President Donald Trump and the police.
The clashes led to the use of tear gas by law enforcement agencies.
Later it was reported that protesters broke into the Capitol and surrounded the Senate Hall.
