The European Medicines Agency (EMA) on Wednesday gave the green light to the vaccine from the American laboratory Moderna against the coronavirus, the second vaccine against Covid-19 to which it gives its approval for use in the European Union.

"The EMA has recommended granting conditional marketing authorization for Moderna's Covid-19 vaccine to prevent disease in people over the age of 18," according to a statement from the European authority Regulatory Authority for Medicines, based in Amsterdam.

This vaccine has already received, on December 18, emergency authorization from the United States Medicines Agency (FDA), a week after doing the same with that of Pfizer-BioNTech.

Canada followed the United States on December 23.

The future American Vice-President Kamala Harris received the first of two doses of the Moderna vaccine at the end of December, calling on all Americans to also be vaccinated.
