Erfurt (dpa / th) - The beer sales of the Thuringian breweries and beer warehouses developed positively in the first nine months of last year, according to the State Office for Statistics.

A total of around 2.4 million hectoliters were sold between January and September 2020, the authority announced on Tuesday.

This was 5.6 percent more than in the same period of the previous year.

Reasons for the increase were not given.

Sales increased both at home and abroad: According to this, 1.9 million hectoliters of beer were sold within Germany - an increase of 42,000 hectoliters or 2.2 percent compared to the first three quarters of 2019. The information was exported according to 483,000 hectoliters, which means an increase of almost 22 percent.

The increase was particularly strong in the 3rd quarter of 2020, when an increase of 57.3 percent or 67,000 hectoliters was recorded.

According to statisticians, there was a decline in mixed beer beverages: 150,000 hectoliters were sold - according to the figures, a decrease of 10.8 percent compared to the first nine months of 2019.
