In the published article, Tokayev called the main wealth of Kazakhstan "the sacred land inherited from the ancestors."

Earlier, the head of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science Vyacheslav Nikonov said that the territory of Kazakhstan is a gift from Russia. Later Nikonov explained that by his statement he meant that the country's interests were fully respected when defining the borders of the Kazakh SSR.
