Neumarkt id Opf. (Dpa / lby) - A senior citizen from the Neumarkt district in Upper Palatinate helped the police arrest a suspected fraudster who wanted to enrich himself at their expense.
A stranger called the woman, pretending to be a police officer and trying to persuade her to hand over EUR 27,000 in cash to another man, the police said on Tuesday.
But the 72-year-old became suspicious and notified the police.
When a 29-year-old man rang the woman's doorbell to collect the money on Monday evening, officers arrested him.
