On Monday afternoon, SOS was alerted by several people about a large explosion in Säve.

When the rescue service arrived at the scene, a man was found dead next to the villa where the explosion took place.

- This is probably an accident.

We believe that it is a gas tank that has exploded, says the head of the preliminary investigation Peter Kron to SVT Nyheter Väst.

Not a workplace accident

According to the police, the man who died in the explosion handled private goods, so it is not an industrial activity.

But why the gas tank exploded is still unclear.

An angle grinder has been found near the site.

- It may be that the person in question used the angle grinder and that it caused the explosion.

It may have been a spark from it or that the gas tank was punctured, says Peter Kron.

Now the police are waiting for answers from forensic medicine and forensic technicians, which can take up to two weeks.

No crime is currently suspected in this incident.
