Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The drastic contact restrictions to combat the corona pandemic apply in North Rhine-Westphalia in public spaces and also in your own four walls.

Prime Minister Armin Laschet (CDU) made this clear on Tuesday in Düsseldorf after the federal-state consultations.

In the future, according to the federal-state resolution, private get-togethers will only be permitted among members of the household and with a maximum of one other person not living in the household.

As at Christmas, however, there are no controls in the private sector, Laschet said.

"We had the very good experience at Christmas that people adhered to it without the police counting under the Christmas tree how many members were there."

The new contact rule means that a family of three cannot visit their grandparents together.

And parents in need of care are only allowed to be visited by a relative who does not belong to the household, said Laschet.

For private gatherings, “one household and one additional person” applies.
