Johan Nöjd does not consider that a confirmed case in itself is so serious:

- It is the potential implications that you are worried about.

The uncertainty, says infection control doctor Johan Nöjd.

An informant writes to SVT that he has been infected by the British variant of the coronavirus, and has now recovered.

According to him, there should be four to five more people in the Uppsala area who have carried, or are carrying, the new virus variant.

According to the informant, none of the infected people have been in the UK, or have been in contact with anyone who has been there recently, according to their own information.

Johan Nöjd, an infection control doctor, tells SVT that he thinks it is one or two, but that the informant's information may be correct.

- This is just a case right now.

And what you can say is a little unpleasant is that it is a person who has not been on a trip to the UK.

So you do not yet know where that virus is from somewhere, says Johan Nöjd.

So this is not about a social spread in Uppsala?

- You do not know.

It can be a societal spread that we are just touching on.

We may find another case, then several later.

We only found out about this today.

This is not going so fast, it will be a few days before we know more.

In this situation we do not know where the virus comes from and then it is difficult to say what it will be.

Should Uppsala residents be extra vigilant now?

- I do not know.

It is a sample that is positive.

Whether it is a coincidence or that samples from Stockholm are positive tomorrow, we do not know.

Nothing in this will get better before vaccinating a large part of the population.
