Saudi Arabia agrees to open the skies and borders with Qatar

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Ahmed Nasser Al-Sabah announced, on Monday, the reopening of the airspace and the borders between Saudi Arabia and Qatar, starting Monday evening.

He added that the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, made two calls to the Saudi Crown Prince and the Emir of Qatar, confirming the agreement to open the skies and land and sea borders between the two countries.

The Kuwaiti official added that all the parties emphasized the need for unity, reunification, and gathering the word.

This came at a time when Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, confirmed that the Kingdom's policy is based on a firm approach to achieve the higher interests of the Gulf Cooperation Council states.

He added that the summit of the Cooperation Council will be unifying the word for the class.

He also added that the Kingdom will translate during the summit the aspirations of the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council states for reunification, stressing that during the summit it will also seek solidarity in facing the challenges in the region.

It is noteworthy that the GCC summit will be held in its 41st session on Tuesday, in Al-Ula, northwest of the Kingdom, at the invitation of King Salman, with the participation of leaders of the member states of the Council.

The Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council, Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf, confirmed, on Sunday, that the holding of this summit despite the exceptional circumstances the world is going through confirms the keenness of the leaders of the participating countries to maintain the Council as a cohesive system capable of overcoming difficulties and challenges.
