Both Region Skåne and Region Västra Götaland have raised the issue that care staff should be given higher priority, now that vaccination is underway.

The Östergötland Region confirms that discussions are being held on the issue.

- As the issue is raised both nationally and internally within our operations, we also discuss it with the Swedish Public Health Agency.

It is difficult to change, without having had this dialogue with them, says Rickard Lundin, regional healthcare management, to SVT Nyheter Öst.

Has lifted internally

The issue has been raised internally in several businesses, according to Rickard Lundin - including at IVA staff.

- I think you have to look at the whole around the availability of vaccines to make the assessment of what is best in the total.

We do not have that information, but the Public Health Agency has it.

But I understand the activities that are now raising the issue.

They are the ones who are on the front line against the virus, he says.

First group ready next week

On Monday, the Region received an additional 2,000 doses of vaccine, which will be dosed in special accommodation.

If the vaccine delivery is continued, the Region expects the special housing group to be ready next week.

With the current order of priority, individuals with home care or interventions in the home are next in line.

- We should relatively soon receive a signal from the Swedish Public Health Agency about how we should think in the future.

We are in the middle of phase 1 now and if we are to do restructuring, it should be done now in that case, says Rickard Lundin.

- We'll see how the virus behaves.

This virus is a bit insidious, says Matti Sällberg and says that it is unclear how many times you need to be vaccinated.
